On behalf of our client, Headway Workforce Solutions is currently seeking hourly, Part-Time Lab Technicians/Phlebotomists to join the FEED Study team in Bloomington, IN. The successful candidate will have experience supporting researchers in a laboratory setting including phlebotomy services, testing, and laboratory maintenance.  This is an ongoing assignment that will run from now through the end of 2024 with the possibility of extending the assignment. Hours are estimated at between 4 to 15 hours per week. All PPE is provided.

The position is part time hourly with a pay range of $21-$22/hour.

Start Date: Mid July 2024

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Observe best practices of teamwork and strong communication with the research team
• Greet and confirm participants prior to phlebotomy services
• Organize and store samples in accordance with all safety procedures and other requirements to ensure the safety of personnel and integrity of the sample
• Collect serum and plasma from study participants and label venipuncture tubes appropriately
• Aliquot samples using transfer pipettes
• Place aliquoted samples in appropriate containers and place in freezer in an organized manner for easy retrieval and testing
• Clean and maintain lab equipment, including recalibration of equipment
• Maintain equipment records and daily work logs
• Prepare and maintain inventory of all equipment and supplies
• Bachelor’s degree plus at least 6 months of experience working as a laboratory technician and or phlebotomist OR an associate degree with at least 1 years of experience, preferred, however we will consider certified phlebotomists without a college degree for this role.
• Excellent eye-hand coordination and attention to detail
• Experience collecting and processing serum and plasma, and aliquot samples
• Labelling venipuncture tubes and aliquot tubes appropriately storing samples
• Trained in good laboratory practices (GLP) and/or good clinical practices (GCP)
• Strong computer skills in Word and Excel
• Must be patient with study participants
• All other duties as assigned

• Physically able to carry study materials/supplies as needed within the laboratory setting
• Excellent eye-hand coordination since drawing blood from patients and transferring serum and plasma to smaller tubes (aliquot) is required
• Ability to read, speak, and write in English clearly
• Communicate through speech and listening     
• Walk, stand, sit for periods of time, use your hands and fingers, grasping, reaching, lifting, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
